This was a pretty interesting project for me to work on. I have always wanted to make a short film with the programs we were taught in class, but never had the time or motivation to do so. This project allowed for me to plan and execute a film I can say that I made but also can say that I am proud of. The subject of the project is what really caught my attention, utilizing a dream like sequence to the short film. After seeing the example films from class, I knew that I wanted to make a film that didn't take itself too seriously but also didn't purely rely on the dream like presence. I chose to have the big reveal at the end, whatever meaning can be found from the character's satisfaction from making the perfect coffee, and then making him float in midair is up to the viewer to interpret and create their own meaning from the scene. I took inspiration from multiple films and artistic pieces I enjoy including the painting Golconda (1953) by Rene Magritte, the film Birdman (2014), and the film Chef (2014).
